MONROVIA, March 6 (LINA)- The Coordinator of the West Africa Agriculture Productivity Program of the Mano River Union (MRU) Secretariat, Kenyeh Barley, has urged citizens of the Mano River basin to emulate the best practices instituted by Liberia to eradicate Ebola in the region.
Barley said Liberia has been able to strategize to mitigate the impact of Ebola and reduce its spread across the country, noting that this indicates that the disease can be eliminated, if a regional strategy is put in place to curtail its spread in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
The MRU Coordinator made the statement Thursday at the end of a three-day MRU National Consultative Meeting with cross-border women, business communities, youth groups, traditional and religious leaders as well as Liberian media practitioners held at a local hotel in the Monrovia.
She disclosed that similar national consultative meetings have been held in Sierra Leone and Guinea, and that the recommendations from the Liberia meeting will enable the MRU Secretariat to formulate a regional strategy on Ebola.
The MRU official said the promise made by the three MRU leaders to maintain 60 days of no new cases of Ebola will be realized if their citizens adhere to preventive measures against the disease.
