MONROVIA, March 7 (LINA) - Liberia’s Information Minister Lewis Brown has said that infrastructural development is key to preventing the spread of future epidemics.
He observed that unless adequate measures were taken to build the requisite infrastructures, coping with the magnitude of health hazards such as Ebola will always pose serious challenges to countries.
Appearing on CNN International over the weekend, Minister Brown said investment in social infrastructures, especially power, health care and roads, will enable countries to tackle head-on, future outbreaks and minimize the impact.
He underscored the importance of global solidarity in this direction and cautioned against complacency in order to avoid the reversal of gains made towards combating the Ebola virus, according to a dispatch from the Liberian Mission at the U.N.
Minister Brown appealed for international flexibility as a way of providing necessary support and opportunities to citizens of the affected countries to enable them participate actively in the economic development of their respective countries
