MONROVIA, April 1 (LINA) – The Executive Chairman of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Cllr. James Verdier, has stressed the need for all integrity agencies to collaborate in the “war” against corruption.
He said this collaboration should persist “so that we would not lose the fight against corruption.”
Verdier was speaking Tuesday at a conference on the Validation of Findings on the Assessment of the 2006 National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) held in Monrovia under auspices of the Governance Commission.
“We need to have more conversations to discuss corruption because it is pervasive,” a Governance Commission release quoted Verdier as saying Tuesday.
The government-created integrity agencies include the LACC, General Auditing Commission, Internal Audit Agency and the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, which are members of the National Integrity Forum.
In his presentation, Dr. John Harvey, an international consultant of the DAH Consulting, Inc., said integrity institutions should be further assessed and strengthened to increase their capacity to achieve their mandates.
