MONROVIA, April 3 (LINA) –The Principal Administrative Officer of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), Alfred Drosaye, has emphasized the need for Liberians to take ownership of the reform processes initiated by government.

“As we move forward with the implementation of government's reform agenda, we must be focused and take ownership of the reform and adhere to the procurement regulations and laws to ensure efficiency in government,” Mr. Drosaye told the Liberia News Agency in a recent interview in Monrovia.

Drosaye noted that it was an opportunity for the CSA to have the support of the Economic Governance and Reform Project (EGRIP) to fund the training of procurement officers from 20 public institutions.

He also emphasized the need for practitioners to exemplify high ethical standards such as integrity, accountability and professionalism in the execution of their duties.

According to Drosaye, the CSA is collaborating with the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) in the training of 35 procurement officers from 20 public institutions.

The training is part of the World Bank-funded US$18 million project under the EGRIP arrangement that began in 2008.

Under the EGRIP project, which is nearing to a close, LIPA has trained more than 260 procurement practitioners with the just-started training program being the eighth circle.
