VOINJAMA, April 6 (LINA) - Global Communities-Partners for Good has presented eight Nissan Patrol Jeeps and three Yamaha motorbikes to local officials and health authorities in Lofa County.

 
Presenting the keys at the end of a one-day cross-border Surveillance Monitoring Orientation Workshop in Voinjama at the weekend, Global Communities Deputy County Program Advisor Leroy Johnson said the donation is part of its cross- border surveillance project.
 
Johnson pointed out that the project is aimed at containing the further spread of the Ebola virus in the county with the full involvement of the local leaders.
 
He indicated that Global Communities will remain supportive of government‘s efforts to eradicate the virus from Lofa County and Liberia as a whole.
 
Beneficiaries include Commissioners from Salayea, Zorzor, Voinjama, Quadou Gboni, Kolahun, Foya and Vahun Districts, three health authorities and the organization’s Cross-Border Surveillance Monitoring Project focus person for Lofa County, Mr. Jimel Kamara.
 
Johnson disclosed that Global Communities is also providing compensation as well as fuel and other incentives for commissioners and health workers who were selected to work under the project.
 
Receiving the donation, Lofa County Superintendent George Dunor thanked Global Communities and described the donation as a boost not only in the fight against the Ebola virus but also to the county’s development agenda.
 
Supt. Dunor pledged his administration’s fullest support and cooperation in the implementation of the project and urged beneficiaries to use the cars and motorbikes for the intended purpose and not personal use.
