TUBMANBURG, April 13 (LINA) - A prominent businessman in Bomi County is appealing to central government through the Judiciary to assign a new Revenue Judge to the county.
Fallah Joe said since the county’s Revenue Judge, Mohammed Kemokai, was retired three years ago, the government is yet to assign a new Revenue Judge to the county, noting that this could have a negative impact on the collection of needed revenues.
Making the plea in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg over the weekend, Joe said the Revenue Judge, when assigned will enforce the Revenue Laws in the county.
He pointed out that the Judge will work with revenue agents to effectively collect government revenue in Bomi and bring to book those refusing to pay the required taxes to government.
When contacted, Bomi County Revenue Court Bailiff Isaac Andrews confirmed that since the retirement of Judge Kemokai three years ago, the court has been operating without a revenue judge; and said this has caused the court not to function properly.
