The Office of the Presidential Press Secretary is appalled by the banner headline of the Daily Observer newspaper in which it quotes defense lawyers of Mr.

Clemenceau Urey and Dr. Foday Kromah as representing that President Sirleaf instructed their clients to comply with “Legislative demands for money to ensure ratification of the Oranto and Broadway Agreements because this was in the national interest.”

Aware that the issue is one for which the court is seized, the Presidential Press Secretary would like to caution that such false and reckless claims which are unsupported by any shred of evidence is only intended to try a matter that is properly cognizable before the courts in the streets. As always, the Office of the President will not indulge in what can only be described as a tactless misdirection in which it is indicated that the Board “voted” to carry on the action for which the accused are charged, and at the same time, falsely claim to have acted as agents on instruction of a principal.

The Office of the Presidential Press Secretary wishes to reaffirm the policy of the government to continue its fight against corruption without fear and favor.
