(LINA) -The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) chairperson Angelique Weeks has disclosed that the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) is yet to release the entity’s signed and approved budget for the 2014/2015 fiscal year.
“Right now our hands are tied and we cannot do much due to the failure of the MFDP to make the entity’s signed and approved budget available to us,” Weeks emphasized.
She made the disclosure Monday during a meeting with members of the Senate Committee on Posts and Telecommunications at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
Chairperson Weeks, who put the Authority’s annual budget at US$11.9 million, also stated that the LTA administration has been holding series of discussions with authorities of the MFDP to release said budget, but to no avail.
For his part, Deputy MFDP Minister for Debt Management and Expenditure, Dr. James Kollie, told the lawmakers that the Ministry will release the LTA’s budget shortly.
