(LINA) -The Chairman of the Independent Information Commission (IIC), Counselor Mark Bedor-Wla Freeman has left the country to attend the IX International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC 2015) in Santiago de Chile.

According to an IIC press release issued on Tuesday, the conference organized by the Chilean Council for Transparency, will bring together Information Commissioners from around the world.

The conference is being held on the theme: “Reflecting on the state of the policy of transparency and access to information in member countries: achievements and challenges” will last from April 21-23.

This is the second time Liberia is being represented at the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC). The first was in Berlin, Germany in 2014.

While in Chile, Commissioner Freeman will engage commissioners of other countries for capacity building to ensure the successful implementation of the Freedom of Information (FOI) regime in Liberia.

Cllr. Freeman is expected back home on Tuesday, April 28.
