MONROVIA, April 27 (LINA) -Residents of the Monrovia suburb of Barnersville have petitioned Public Works Ministry to pave the stretch of road leading from the Gardnersville/Barnersville Junction to the Kebbah Community in Barnersville before the rainy season.
“We are willing to dig the sand, mix the concrete; we are willing to serve as security and we are willing to be a part of the process for the development of our community and country,” the residents said in the petition presented to the Public Works Ministry on Monday, April 27.
The petition, read by resident Emmanuel Farh, said paving the road will create jobs and bring a major economic boost to the community, noting that businesses will be empowered and families will not only realize the comfort of the paved road, but will also enjoy financial gains from businesses.
“This road will help ease the burden of traffic on the Somalia Drive and create an option for people travelling to Kakata City and beyond,” the petition added.
The petitioners then lauded the Public Works Minister W. Gyude Moore for the able leadership he has demonstrated since taking over the ministry.
Receiving the petition, Deputy Public Works Minister Claude Langley commended the residents for conducting themselves civilly and assured the ministry’s preparedness to pave the road.
He said paving the road is already on the agenda of the ministry, adding that funding is being solicited to begin work.
