MONROVIA, April 28 (LINA) – The House of Representatives has endorsed recommendations by the Joint Committee on National Security and Good Governance on a probe into an accident involving a motorcyclist and the official vehicle of Deputy Police Director Abraham Kromah on February 15 in Monrovia.  

 

The Committee recommended that the Liberia National Police should take full responsibility of the wellbeing of motorcyclist Victor Johnson, under the doctrine of ‘Respondent Superior’ since Colonel Kromah was performing his official duty.
 
Johnson, who was riding his motorcycle when the accident occurred, broke one of his legs and severely injured the other in the accident. He is currently undergoing medication in Monrovia.
 
The Committee also recommended that Plenary mandates the relevant committee to liaise with the LNP and other institutions to formulate a policy that will bring sanity between the police and commercial motorcyclists, since there is always misunderstanding between the two groups that sometimes result to deaths and destruction of properties.
 
According to the committee, it contacted all those involved in the incident and eyewitnesses during the investigation, and it was established that the accident was not intentional.
 
Plenary mandated the Joint Committee to investigate the matter based on a complaint filed against the Deputy Police Director for Operations by Montserrado County Representative Munah Youngblood on February 24, after the accident occurred.
 
Meanwhile, Plenary has mandated Chief Clerk Mildred Sayon to communicate its decision to authorities of the Liberia National Police.
