MONROVIA, April 30 (LINA) -The Government of Liberia remains committed to improving its governance structure through an Open Government Partnership (OGP), Deputy Information Minister Andrew Tehmeh has assured.
Tehmeh said the OGP is Liberia’s way of ensuring good governance and nation-building through four thematic areas which include citizen participation, transparency, accountability and technology.
“The government developed its first action plan and it was implemented, and we are in the process of developing a new action plan aimed at improving the pillars of the OGP,” Tehmeh said Thursday at the start of the OGP Regional Consultation held at a local hotel in Monrovia.
He explained that the regional consultation will further examine each pillar of the OGP to insert relevant information and strategies that will strengthen and make government’s plan of having an open government successful.
He said the government’s resolve to establish relevant integrity institutions such as the General Auditing Commission (GAC), Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), among others, should serve as a testament to its quest to operate an open government.
The ongoing regional OGP consultation brings together participants from Margibi, Bomi, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount and Montserrado Counties.
Its target groups include superintendents, women and youth leaders, gender coordinators as well as people with disabilities to achieve holistic participation which will ensure the attainment of the desired results.
