MONROVIA, March 26 (LINA) - Public Works Minister, Antoinette G. Weeks, has warned construction companies against constructing sub-standard roads, saying the ministry will not accept anything less than excellent roads.

Dr. Weeks maintained that the construction of excellent roads would be the hallmark for awarding the Fish Town-Harper Road Project in southeastern Liberia.

The Public Works minister made the statement Tuesday when the Ministry of Public Works Infrastructure Implementation Unit opened the bid for the pavement of the Fish Town-Harper Road Project.

She noted that the Fish Town-Harper Road Project is a major corridor that is crucial towards linking the country with other countries within the Mano River basin.

She pointed out that it is important for international construction companies to work alongside local companies, and encouraged local construction companies to engage in road construction projects in Liberia.

Dr. Weeks observed that in the past, Liberian companies were sidelined in the building of major roads around the country.

She hoped that international companies that would win the bid for the Fish Town-Harper Road Project will work with local construction companies, in order to build their capacities.
