MONROVIA May2 (LINA) - Associate Justice of the Supreme Court , Cllr. Philip A.Z. Banks, has warned government officials against violating the law or face the consequences when necessary irrespective of their status.
Speaking Saturday at a program marking the observance of Law Day held at a local sports ground in Monrovia, Justice Banks cited as example how government officials violate traffic law by driving in opposite lane during traffic jam.
He noted that when ordinary Liberians violate the same law they are prosecuted, but officials of government are allowed to go without consequences, saying that this was one of the factors undermining the virtues to uphold the laws of the country.
He pointed out that equal justice would help to build a strong judicial system for Liberia, because, according to Justice Banks, “no one is above the law.”
