TUBMANBURG, May 2 (LINA) - Women in Peace Initiative (WOPEI), a local non-profit organization in Bomi County, has identified over 90 Ebola-affected children in the county following two weeks of thorough search.
WOPEI Executive Director Agnes Sando Siryon told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in Cooper Town, Suehn Mecca District, Bomi County, recently that the process is intended to know the total number of Ebola-affected children in order to seek assistance for them.
She said WOPEI is targeting mostly children of school-going age and those who lost both parents and do not have caretakers in the county.
Siryon said the institution is also seeking financial and material assistance from local and International non-governmental and humanitarian organizations and citizens of the county to send the children to school
She also disclosed that over 30 Ebola-affected children have been benefiting from educational assistance in Suehn Mecca District before WOPIE began its search in the county.
According to her, Suehn Mecca District’s citizens in America provided US$1,500 to help send the children to school for the first semester.
