MONROVIA, May 2 (LINA) -A consignment of new motor vehicle license plates designed with retro-reflective features to enhance vehicles visibility at night are due to arrive in the country shortly, according to  the Ministry of Transport (MOT).

Disclosing this in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Friday, Deputy MOT Public Affairs Director Lemuel O. Kleeme said the highly sophisticated license plates are also intended to improve the vehicle licensing system.

Kleeme noted that the plates are designed in accordance with international standards with technical security features that will prevent them from being forged.

He pointed out that the plates contain the international coding system for Liberia (LB), a feature which makes it easier for a vehicle to be identified, especially when it is taken to another country.

“The new plates are designed in a unique fashion and are intended to cover vehicles of all categories consistent with international best practice,” Kleeme stated.

Meanwhile, Kleeme has also disclosed that in keeping with the ministry’s regular motor vehicle insurance policy, the 2015 vehicle insurance stickers are ready, and vehicle owners are advised to renew their insurance through their preferred insurance companies.

According to him, only insurance companies that are licensed by the Government of Liberia are accredited to offer insurance for vehicles.
