MONROVIA, May 4 (LINA) –Montserrado County Representative Munah Youngblood has contributed L$30,000 towards the construction of a feeder road in the Block “B” Community of Central Matadi outside Monrovia.

Youngblood made the contribution Saturday when she served as chief launcher at a ground-breaking and fundraising ceremony for the one-mile road project estimated to cost US$3,500.

She lauded the community for the self-help initiative, and cautioned the residents against always waiting for the national government to do what they can easily do for themselves.

The lawmaker then challenged youths of the community to complement the efforts of the elders, noting “You will enjoy this road more than the old people.”

“Becoming a future leader depends on the tasks you undertake today, particularly in supporting the elders in developing your community while still a youth,” Youngblood noted.

In remarks at the ceremony, Central Matadi Right Wing General Chairman Bill Saa called for more action rather than speeches, stressing, “I also want residents of the other four blocks to emulate the good examples of Block “B”.

When completed, the road will provide easy access to Block “B” with a population of more than 1,700 residents.
