MONROVIA, May 4 (LINA) -The Ministry of National Defense has assured that the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) is fully prepared to fill the security gap when the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) pulls out in June of 2016.

Assistant Defense Minister for Public Affairs David Dahn disclosed that the current numerical strength of the army is adequately prepared to defend the country.
Appearing Monday on the UNMIL Radio talk show, 'Coffee Break', Dahn said the issue is not about manpower, but how well they are trained to respond to duty in case of emergency.

He disclosed that plans are underway to recruit more persons for the army, saying that specific details concerning the exercise are being discussed.
After several years of peace-keeping mission in Liberia, the United Nations Mission in Liberia is expected to complete its drawdown in June next year.
Dahn pointed out that Liberia is at peace with its neighbors and without external or internal threats, needing not specifics to replace UNMIL.
