MONROVIA, May 4 (LINA) - Margibi County Senator Jim Tomonlah has proposed a two-day retreat for members of the Liberian Senate to forge a spirit of reconciliation in the Upper House.

Tomonlah noted that the recent President Pro-Tempore election has triggered disunity among members of the Senate, and as such, the proposed retreat was necessary to help heal the wounds and bring the Senators together to ensure effectiveness.

Appearing on the ELBC talk show, ‘The Super Morning Show’ Monday, he observed that although the situation does not pose a serious threat to the workings of the Senate, there was need for a retreat to ensure a cordial working relationship at the Senate.

Tomonlah, who was elected during the 2014 Mid-Term Senatorial Election but could not immediately take seat due to a lawsuit filed against his election, also indicated that the retreat will update the new batch of Senators on the activities of the Liberian Senate.

Senator Tomonlah said he will shortly communicate his proposal to the Plenary of the Liberian Senate, and expressed optimism that his colleagues will buy the idea.
