TUBMANBURG, May 10 (LINA) - The Executive Director of the Forestry Training Institute (FTI) in Bomi County, Jeremiah Karmo, is appealing to government and the international community to provide financial assistance for the renovation of the institution’s staff quarters.

Karmo said due to the dilapidated condition of the staff quarters, instructors of the institution are living in communities far away from the school; something which, he noted makes it impossible for them to properly monitor the activities of students.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg over the weekend, the FTI official said this is also hindering the smooth operations of the institution in terms of punctuality and regularity of the instructors.

According to Karmo, the buildings that hosted the instructors are damaged and need immediate renovation as the institution’s US$250,000 budget was not enough to pay the instructors and undertake the renovation of the staff quarters.

The FTI Executive Director is at the same time appealing to central government as well as local and international non-governmental organizations for the construction of a modern clinic on the campus of the institution.
