MONROVIA, May 10 (LINA) -A former Montserrado County Senatorial contender has called on the National Legislature to pass the Decent Work Bill instead of calling on the Finance and Development Planning Minister Amara Konneh to give clarity on a statement.

Abraham Darius Dillon observed that the Liberian Senate should be seeking the welfare and interest of the Liberian people through the passage of the Decent Work Bill to transform the living standard of the ordinary people who elected them to enact better laws to enhance the development of the country .

Dillon made the call Friday at a program marking the 6th Anniversary of the Center for Exchange of Intellectual Opinions held on Carey Street in central Monrovia.

Meanwhile, Lofa County Senator Stephen J. H. Zargo has said the big task confronting Liberia now is the transition process of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) which borders on the security of the state.

Senator Zargo noted that the recent episode involving the Liberia National Police(LNP) and some members of the public is a writing on the wall that Liberia’s peace and security will be at risk, if the necessary mechanisms are not put in place to ensure that the country remains stable when UNMIL departs the country.

He observed that the call for the Finance and Development Planning Minister to appear before the Liberian Senate on Tuesday May 12, 2015 is in the right direction to give clarity on the statement he made in America which has security implication.

Recently, it was reported that Finance Minister Amara Konneh made a pronouncement in the United States that if government does not take certain actions, what happened in Liberia in 1979 would likely happen again.
