MONROVIA, May 15 (LINA) -The National Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders plans to honor President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Gbarnga, Bong County shortly.

The Chairman of the Council, Zanzan Karwah disclosed this during a program marking Liberia’s declaration as an Ebola-free country by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the Centennial Pavilion recently.

Speaking during the occasion, Karwah noted the honor is in recognition of President Sirleaf’s commitment and resilience in ensuring that the deadly Ebola disease was eradicated from the country.

“Her invaluable role and determination to stay the course as well as her relentless support during the fight against Ebola made the country free of the virus,” he pointed out.

He thanked friendly governments, partners and non-governmental organizations as well as the Liberian people for their assistance and hard work that helped make “this declaration day a successful, historical and joyous day.”
