(LINA) -The Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), Dorbor Jallah has disclosed a plan to launch a “Vendor Data Base” of entities participating in government’s procurement process.

Jallah said the data base is intended to ensure fairness, efficiency and accountability in tendering public procurement contracts, thereby reducing the bureaucracy and unfair bidding processes some business entities continue to complain about.

Appearing on the Fabric FM radio talk show , ‘The New Dawn”, Monday in Monrovia, he pointed out that during registration to the Data Base, businesses will be required to submit all necessary documentations of their entities, including business registration, operational license and bank accounts.

He said when the Vendor Data Base is set-up, only registered entities will be allowed to participate in the bidding for government procurement contracts in a transparent process.

Jallah, who took over the PPCC six months ago, explained that he has observed that some people in the past felt reluctant to participate in bidding processes because they claimed that they were wrongly treated.

He emphasized that room will be created for those who have problem with the bid tendering process to seek redress in a court of competent jurisdiction in the spirit of fair play.

The PPCC was established by an Act of National Legislature which was approved in September 2005 and came into force after the inauguration of the elected government of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in January 2006.
