TUBMANBURG, April 1 (LINA) - The Clerk of Klay District in Bomi County, Edwin Kpingba, wants government to train district clerks in the use of modern technology to enhance their performance on duty.

Mr. Kpingba said clerks are the direct representatives of District Commissioners, and as such they should be trained to properly conduct the affairs of districts in the absence of commissioners.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Klay District Monday, the Clerk said as technology is transforming the global community, clerks of every institution should be trained in modern technology, especially in the use of computer, internet and other modern information technologies.

Mr. Kpingba said district clerks are also the custodian of records and other important documents of districts and should, therefore, be trained in record keeping and compiling.

He said clerks also prepare communications from the commissioners' offices on a daily basis, and should, therefore, be trained adequately to perform this task.

He noted that most training target top administrative clerks in the counties, while district clerks are left untrained.

Mr. Kpingba said the administration of the counties begins with the districts, noting that when the clerks are well trained, it will make the job of superintendents, commissioners and
other local officials easier.
