MONROVIA, April 9 (LINA) - The Commissioner for Political Reform at the Governance Commission (GC), Yarsuo Weh-Dorliae, has stressed the need to decentralize the governance structure of Liberia.
Weh-Dorline observed that if Liberia implements the decentralization policy, the country will experience rapid development in every sector.
He made the statement Tuesday at the Center for the Exchange of Intellectual Opinions (CEIO) on Carey Street in Monrovia, and stressed the significance of political reform within the governance process of Liberia.
He noted that while other countries within the sub-region are making strides in their development process, Liberia continues to struggle with the process due to different kinds of opinions that are affecting the country’s development drive.
He said it was time every Liberian embraced the process of decentralization where the people would participate in the decision-making of their cities, towns and villages through the democratic process.
Weh-Dorliae said his visit to the intellectual center was to acquaint Liberians with the mandate and functions of the Governance Commission (GC) in the democratic process of good governance in Liberia.
In remarks during the discussion, the Chairman of the Center for the Exchange of Intellectual Opinions, Franklin K. Wesseh expressed delight for the Commissioner’s visit to the center and informed the audience about the performance of the Governance Commission since it was founded.
