MONROVIA, April 12 (LINA) – The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) and the Liberia Football Association (LFA) have mutually agreed to immediately cut off the blackouts placed upon each other in the period leading to the past LFA Congress in Buchanan.
The decision followed a four-hour mediation effort at the Headquarters of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) in Monrovia.
During the discussions, the two organizations reaffirmed their commitment to working together in promoting football in Liberia.
Both parties agreed that black-outs do not support media growth or football development in Liberia, and called for greater engagements that will make their work more successful.
The resolution of the misunderstanding also recognized that both SWAL and the LFA were hasty in calling the blackouts, and acted without reference to a standing Memorandum of Understanding between both organizations.
The organizations also called for a review of the current MoU at a mutually agreed date, whereby the agreement will be made more practical and realistic.
The LFA delegation was led by its President Musa Bility, while SWAL President Roland Mulbah led the body’s delegation and the PUL, which led the mediation, represented by its President Abdullai Kamara.
