MONROVIA, April 13 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called for a change of attitude among Liberian youths, urging them to begin to respect their elders.

President Sirleaf also observed that Liberians must demonstrate love for one another, if the country is to move forward.

She made the call at a special worship service to mark the observance of National Fast and Prayer Day held at the Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia over the weekend.

The Chief Executive said as a people, Liberians can only prosper and attain their goals when they stand together, work together and pray together because, she noted, “everything we do or say reflect on our entire nation.”

She said Liberians can live with dignity and honor, if they change the way they talk, walk and dress, stressing, “These are changing times and we all must pray for God’s mercy to grant us our hearts’ desire.”

The Liberian leader called on the congregation to leave the service with renewed minds by meditating on the words of God that was delivered by the Prophet of God, who delivered the Fast and Prayer Day oration, which talks about the “call for love and not for one own self.”

President Sirleaf then thanked the Liberia Council of Churches, Pentecostal Union, Evangelicals of Liberia and Muslim Council, who fasted and prayed for Liberia during the week of fasting and praying.

“When I think about the goodness of Jesus and all he has done for us, my soul shall shout hallelujah thank God for saving me,” she said.

President Sirleaf admonished Liberians to continuously fast and pray for God’s divine favor and grace to overflow Liberia adding, “When God is for us, who can be against us.”
