ROBERTSPORT, April 13 (LINA) -The Chairlady of the Women Organization in Lofa Bridge, Gola Konneh District in Grand Cape Mount County, Massa Gola has commended the Liberian Government and the B and V Timber Company for the renovation of the Lofa Bridge.

She said the renovation of the bridge was a clear manifestation of Government’s preparedness to provide the requisite social services to its citizens that will help improve their living standard.

The women of Gbarpolu recently gathered in protest at the Lofa Bridge to highlight the deplorable state of the bridge, prompting government o shut it and the timber company to volunteer to renovate the bridge.

Madame Gola made the commendation at the weekend in an interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Grand Cape Mount County correspondent in Gola Konneh.

She said the immediate intervention of Government and the company to rehabilitate the bridge has brought total relief to the people in the area and commuters.

Chairlady Gola is, meanwhile, urging users of the bridge to institute measures to monitor activities on the bride in a bid to protect it.

The women leader is at the same time calling on the Government and the international community to change the bridge from timber to concrete to ensure longer life span.

She told LINA that the bridge was constructed in the 1960s by the former National Iron Old Company (NIOC) to transport their goods and staff.
