ROBERTSPORT, May 1(LINA) - A three-day Training-of-Trainers Workshop to orientate Education Officers and professional staff on school grant guidelines opened Thursday in Robbertsport, Grand Cape Mount County.

The workshop brings together over 50 participants, including the five district education officers and other educators in the county.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Grand Cape Mount County Education Officer (CEO), Dwight Harvey, called on the participants to take the workshop seriously, noting that education must be given priority.

Mr. Dwight said the workshop is intended to explain the purpose of school grant guidelines to administrators and other workers in the education sector.

Earlier, the Coordinator of School Grants at the Ministry of Education, Emmanuel Diabolo, said that the ministry was undertaking the school grants program to allow communities gain access to the various schools to understand the problems facing them.

He said the program is intended to provide annual grants to schools in order to provide feeding for students.

According to him, those who are attending the workshop will conduct similar workshops for principals, teachers, Parent/Teacher Associations (PTAs), chiefs, community leaders and other education staff in the districts.

The coordinators said some of the topics of the workshop are administrative, procurement and financial guidelines, among others.
