MONROVIA, May 25 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says her government will continue to invest in Liberia’s human resource development as one of the surest ways of securing the future of Liberians.

President Sirleaf said she was pleased that Liberian students who have had the opportunity to study abroad have demonstrated a high degree of academic excellence which has shown the world that Liberians have great potential when given the opportunity to exploit them.

“This,” the Liberian leader said, “has motivated government to continue to explore avenues where Liberians, irrespective of background, can prepare themselves for future challenges.”
According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf was speaking during a courtesy call paid her by the former Deputy Minister for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Patrick M’bayo.

Mr. M’bayo had gone to meet the Liberian leader to express thanks to her for granting him a scholarship to pursue post-graduate studies at one of America’s top universities, George Town University in Washington DC.

He assured President Sirleaf that he will serve as an ambassador of Liberia during his sojourn in the United States, and will do nothing that will undermine the growth and development of the country and its people.

Mr. M’bayo, who is expected to leave on Sunday, May 25, once served as assistant minister for youth services at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He was later promoted to deputy minister for youth development before being replaced by Mr. John Saah N’tow to afford him the opportunity to undergo post-graduate studies in the United States.
