MONROVIA, May 24 (LINA) - The president of the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) has underscored the need to train young Liberians in the business sector to empower them to help develop the nation.

Mr.Ezzat N. Eid said the empowerment of young Liberians in the business sector will ensure the speedy development of Liberia, noting that it is only prosperous people and not poor people that can develop a country.

The WLCU prexy made the statement Friday when he launched the Business and Continuing Education Center (BCEC) at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) Campus on Camp Johnson Road in Monrovia.

He observed that every Liberian desires a government job rather than creating a business or focusing on the private sector, saying it is time for Liberians, particularly the younger generation, to see business as a means of survival.

He pointed out that Liberians should aim high to become prosperous because, he noted, it is only prosperous citizens that can build a great country.

He emphasized that it is critical to teach young Liberians the techniques and skills of doing business effectively.

Mr. Eid stressed that if Liberians begin to engage in business, the nation will experience speedy development and citizens will enjoy improved economic status.

The Business and Continuing Education Center, which is named after the WLCU President Eid, was set up by the AMEU to provide training for staff of institutions, agencies as well as individuals who are engaged in business.
