MONROVIA, May 26 (LINA) - The Director-General of the National Commission on Higher Education, Dr. Michael P. Slawon, has challenged graduates from the business colleges of the various universities in Liberia to add value to their degrees through self-employment

Dr. Slawon indicated that over the past five years, Liberian universities have graduated more than 20,500 students, and that more than 11,000 of these graduates are from business colleges, but regretted that most are seeking employment from government and private institutions.
Dr. Slawon made the remarks Friday at the launch of the Ezzat N. Eid Business and Containing Education Center (BCEC) at the African Methodist Episcopal University on Camp Johnson Road in Monrovia.
He stressed that the BCEC could instill in business graduates the skills and techniques they need to become self-employed in the business sector, which could reduce the high unemployment rate in the country.
He pointed out that if students from business colleges acquire the requisite skills and techniques to become self-employed after graduation, the business sector would be developed to boost the Liberian economy.
Dr. Slawon described the BCEC as a value added to the business college to train students in the dynamics of doing business and becoming successful entrepreneurs in the Liberian society.
