GBARNGA, June 1 (LINA) – Liberian Ambassador to the United States, Jeremiah Sulonteh, says the downward trend of development in Bong County clearly speaks to the level of disunity among its leaders.
He said were the leaders united, the pace of development would have been forceful, compared to what it is in reality today.
“If we must foster development in our county, we must be willing to reconcile and forgive each other as a means of paving the way for a unified development throughout Bong,” he told citizens during a visit to the county over the weekend.
He stress that if Bong County must be at peace with itself, citizens need to emulate the good examples of their forefathers who, he said, did not just show love and care to fellow citizens alone but to strangers as well.
He expressed concern about the proper use of the county and social development funds, especially when the Bong County Technical College is still renting space on the compounds of the William V.S. Tubman-Gray High School.
He called on citizens to put aside whatever differences they might have and support the development of the county.
Sulonteh, who is also Liberian Ambassador to Canada and Mexico, visited the county with investors to explore possibilities of doing business in the county.
Bong County, which has a population of 370,000 people, with 13 political districts, 42 clans with 468 towns, receives over US$2.5 million from both government and concessions as annual intake intended for development in the county.
