MONROVIA, June 1 (LINA) –The Resident Representative of the Mano River Union (MRU) in Liberia, Mr. Lawrence Morris, has assured Liberians of the Union’s support in preserving their culture and sustaining peace in the country.

He said the MRU supports any action towards developing a culture of peace, noting that this is a major theme of the MRU’s ten-year agenda.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Mr. Morris gave the assurance at the National Unification Day celebration held at the Liberia Chamber of commerce in Monrovia.
The celebration was held under the theme: "National Unification Day at 50; Reviewing and Preparing for the Future".
“We have put into place our own unification framework, using the growth triangle concept as the vehicle for achieving our desired objectives, which are expanding trade through the elimination of all barriers to mutual trade,” he told the gathering.
Mr. Morris said to lay the groundwork for these objectives, various instruments are already in place, and cited the Joint Border Security Capacity Building Unit (JBSCBU) , which, he explained, was organized by the MRU to primarily resolve issues that affect civilians and security personnel at border points.
“This includes conflicts concerning commerce, migration, illicit activities, vulnerable groups (women and children) in order to fairly manage the issues using the instrument of joint border unit membership," the MRU official added.
