ZWEDRU CITY, June 2 (LINA) - The Public Procurement Concession Commission (PPCC) has certificated 21 participants at the end of a two-day technical workshop for public officials in Grand Gedeh County.

Prominent among those certificated are the Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County, Peter L. Solo, and the president of the Grand Gedeh Community College, Benson Bah, according to the Liberia News Agency.

Speaking at a brief closing ceremony, PPCC Senior Compliance Officer, Isaac P. K. Dioh, praised the county authorities for the seriousness they attached to the workshop, and promised that follow-ups will be done to ensure that participants put into practice what they learned.

In remarks, the PPCC Communications Director, Nathan Bengu, stressed the importance of procurement requirement and compliance under the law, adding that failure to adhere to set guidelines may lead to corruption charges for someone who did not even put money in their pocket.

The Gedeh Community College president, Benson Bah, thanked the commission
for reaching out to share knowledge on steps necessary to put administrators on board with what they need to know about awarding contracts to bidders.

He said attention given participants during the two-day sitting was worthwhile, as it has afforded them the opportunity to take basic steps in procurement as the college embarks on growth and development.

In remarks, Superintendent Solo thanked the Government of Liberia through President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for affording the opportunity to public officials to help fight corruption.

He said the knowledge shared on guidelines for compliance is set for public officials in Grand Gedeh to follow step-by-step to ensure accountability, transparency and fairplay in awarding contracts to bidders at different levels and help curtail corruption.
