GBARNGA, June 3 (LINA) -The Commissioner of Panta District in Bong County, Wellington K. Bellepu, says the donation of an ambulance to the district will help save lives and strengthen the health care delivery system of the district.

The U.S Chapter of the Foe River Basin Community Development Organization, represented by Mr. James Gbawor, last Saturday donated the ambulance and phone valued at more than US$10,000 for use by the district’s health system.

Speaking in a telephone interview with the Liberia News Agency from the district Monday, Commissioner Bellepu said prior to the donation citizens had difficulty conveying critically ill patients in hammocks to the C.B. Dunbar Hospital.
Saturday’s donation brings to two the number of ambulances in the district

However, Commissioner Bellepu said there is a need for an additional ambulance as there are four clinics in the district that are far apart.

Panta District in Bong County constitutes electoral district four represented by Representative Lester Paye.
It has a population of about 10,000 people distributed in 37 towns and villages in three clans.

The donor organization is named after the Foe River in the Kpaai District, Bong County.
