NEC Launches Civic Education On Voter Roll Update

MONROVIA, Jan 2 (LINA) – The National Elections Commission (NEC) will launch its civic and voter education on the voter roll update on Saturday, January 4.

The civic education on the voter roll update precedes the voter roll update exercise that runs from January 13 to March 5, 2014.

NEC Director for civic education on voters’ registration, Josiah Jacobs disclosed that the exercise will kick-off simultaneously nationwide with street parades.

 

He explained that the country has been divided into four zones to ensure the concurrent launch of the process nationwide.

Jacobs said the launch for Montserrado County will take place at the NEC headquarters in Sinkor, Monrovia, while that of Sinoe, Rivercess and Grand Bassa counties will be held in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

He said the launch for Lofa, Bong and Nimba counties will hold in Ganta City, Nimba County.

Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and Bomi counties will converge in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, while Maryland, River Gee and Grand Gedeh will launch the exercise in Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County.

He indicated that NEC will recruit its civic education workers from the various counties where the launch exercises will take place.

Jacobs made the disclosure on the state-owned ELBC radio program ‘’Election and You’’.
