VOINJAMA, August 2 (LINA) -The Chief Medical Director of the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama, Lofa County has dispelled rumors that the facility is closed. Dr. Zuana Musa Kamara said the misinformation about the closure of the hospital is “false, misleading and has no iota of truth”.

He clarified that the facility is currently being disinfected after which workers will return to work.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Dr. Kamara’s statement comes in the wake of rumors that the hospital has been closed to the public, something, he said, that could prevent citizens from seeking treatment at the facility.

He maintained that at no time will Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, which is the only referral hospital in Lofa County, close its doors without the consent of the government.

When asked about the alleged demand by health workers at the hospital for ‘risk allowance’, Dr. Kamara confirmed the plight of the workers, but said modalities are being worked out to address the situation.
