MONROVIA, Jan 2 (LINA) – The Birth Certificate Department of the Ministry of Health and Social Warfare has disclosed that 30, 875 Birth Certificates were issued from January 2 to December 18, 2013.

A report from the department revealed that of the total of 30,875 birth certificates 15,874 were issued to males, while 15,001 recipients were females.

The report also indicated that of the 30,875 birth certificates, children up to 12 years old obtained 6, 673, while 13 years and above obtained 24,202 certificates.

The report suggests that more Liberians obtained birth certificates in 2013 than in the past years when it was difficult to obtain birth certificates.

It can be recalled that last year, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf dismissed the former Birth Certificate Director for mismanagement, and appointed Madam Mary Broh to revamp the department.
