March 20 edition of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Liberia weekly press briefing. Today's briefing is jointly addressed by Cllr. Juah Lawson, Minister of Labor and Hon. Tony Sonkarly, Assistant Minister (Administration & Public Safety), Ministry of Justice. Minister Lawson is highlighting preparations to launch a five year National Action Plan in the fight against the trafficking of Human beings within the Republic. Minister Sonkarly is presenting on the formal launch of the Tip Action Plan.

Also in attendance is Mr. Robert M. Sammie, Secretary General, Liberia Motorcycle Union (LMTU). Mr. Sammie is focusing his presentation on issues surrounding the commercial motorcycle sector, a complex and dynamic area of interest in post conflict Liberia. Gospel Artist Evangelist G. Cyrus Townsend is also expected to present to Liberia his International Award won in Australia.

Today press briefing is been jointly addressed by Dr. Fredrick Norkeh, Minister of Post and Telecommunications and Madam Angelique Weeks, chairman, Liberia telecommunications Authority (LTA). Dr. Norkeh’s presentation will focus on the following points: Postal Administration, Postal Expansion, National Address System, Financial Services, Post Shop, Expedited Mail, Surface Mail Fiber deployment among others, while Madam Weeks will present on the Universal Access, the ability to connect unserved and underserved communities to ICT and Telecommunications services through heavily subsidized funding from service providers.

Also in attendance is Madam Loris T. Shannon, communication officer, Ministry of State & Presidential Affairs. Madam Shannon will highlight preparations by the President of Liberia to launch the common African Position drafted by the 10-Heads of State Level Committee on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Today’s Panel discussion focuses on the April 14, 1979 uprising and challenges as well as the lessons learned. In extension, the panelists retrospect on the nation’s recent celebration of ten (10) years of Peace.

The Panelists include, Dr. Elwood Dunn, Amb. Conmany B. Wesseh, Mr. Sam P. Jackson and John Stewart amongst others, will focus on the challenges associated with the April Events ,and what can be offered far more better for our move towards building a sustained peace considering moving away from the ugly past.

Also in attendance will be Dr. Walter T. Gwenigale, Minister, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare who will provide update on the deadly Ebola virus.
