President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will shortly be addressing officials of the United States Government on Capitol Hill at an event hosted by U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) and the U.S. Institute of Peace in Hart Senate Office Building.
President Sirleaf is currently in Washington, DC, on her first trip to the US since the Ebola outbreak last July.
In her speech to be delivered on Capitol Hill, the Liberian Leader will offer thanks to the American people for their support during the Ebola crisis, to Congress for authorizing funding to help stop the outbreak, to the Administration for its deployment to the region, and to aid organizations for going to the region to care for those infected. She will also discuss the need for sustained investment in the region’s public health infrastructure in order to prevent future outbreaks.
