According to patrolman Victor Y. Kardual, while they were duty a vehicle with plate-# TP-1387 entered the checkpoint with some passengers onboard in Jallah Town on Sunday.
He said when they stopped the vehicle for inspection the passengers onboard became furious and threw insults at him and other officers.
He said during his interaction with the driver of the vehicle he was informed that he was taking a rape victim at the hospital.
While informing his supervisor, Superintendent Kennedy Sayon, he heard a loud voice saying “The victim has dead.”
Patrolman Kardual further stated that upon the pronouncement that the victim was dead, passerby who heard it threw stones at the police.
The mob action forced the police to escape the scene for their safety.
