Kpukuyoi made the statement Friday at a program marking the official launch of Josiah F. Joekai, Jr. latest book called the ‘Emergence of Democratic Governance in Liberia: Challenges and Prospects’ held at local hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia.
She noted that Liberians are not supportive in promoting the talents and potentials of each other, undermining the development of great writers and musicians who could build the entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, the author of the book, Josiah Joekai, has said enlightenment is essential for any society to ensure social, political and economic development that drives progress in a nation.
Joskai noted that the Liberian society lacks enlightenment, something that is hampering the growth and development of the nation and creating insecurity.
He pointed out that Liberians should develop the culture of reading in order to be enlightened on issues or else the transformation of the country and its people would be difficult to achieve in the near future.
