MONROVIA, April 7 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has assured investors of government’s determination to create the enabling environment to guarantee confidence that will lead to strengthening the Liberian economy and job creation.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf gave the assurance at her office in Monrovia when a six-member delegation from MNG Group paid a courtesy call on her recently.
 
The delegation went to brief her on their recent assessment visit to Liberia to explore investment prospects in the energy, hospitality, as well as rubber wood processing for furniture production in Liberia.

President Sirleaf said she was extremely pleased with the MNG Group’s follow-up mission after a high-powered delegation of the company led by the multi-national company’s Chairman Mehmet Nazif Gunal.

She expressed delight that Chairman Gunal made a promise regarding a follow-up visit, which has been demonstrated by the latest MNG Group’s return to Liberia to further explore strategic investment opportunities.
 
She therefore stressed the need to accelerate the pace in realizing practical outcomes for mutual benefits.

Briefing President Sirleaf on their just-concluded visit to Liberia, the Chief Executive Officer of MNG Group, Mr. Serhan Wmurhan, said his company was keen to invest in three key sectors - energy, hospitality and value addition to rubber wood processing for furniture-making in Liberia.

He thanked President Sirleaf for the opportunity and noted that key studies, including conceptual designs for the hydro dam on the St. Paul River, technical design of hotel facility and feasibility studies will be finalized within the short-term to be followed by implementation.

He acknowledged the cooperation received from sectoral Ministries during
their visit and thanked the government team for the level of responsiveness exhibited during the course of the assessment visit.

MNG Group disclosed that it also intends to explore the possibility of invigorating the Liberian pepper industry with a view to stimulating small holders’ participation geared towards the packaging of processed pepper for increased marketability.

For his part, Lands, Mines and Energy Minister Patrick Sendolo said it is important for MNG Group to consider collaboration with the Arcelor Mittal hydro initiative to expand energy availability and accessibility to other critical stakeholders.
