MONROVIA, January 22 (LINA) - Government officials and civil society representatives are expected to meet Friday to discuss promoting accountability of Ebola resources, Deputy Information Minister Isaac Jackson has said.
Jackson made the disclosure when he addressed the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference at the ministry Thursday.
He said the meeting will particularly emphasize on the necessity for increased proactive disclosure and timely responses to request for information on funds and other resources donated, received, used and held in connection with the fight against Ebola.
Jackson said the outcome of the meeting will re-enforce the ministry’s daily Ebola press briefing that regularly updates the public on the state of the Ebola fight and management of resources.
He indicated that the Carter Center Access to Information Project is working in Liberia at the request of the Government to share international Freedom of Information (FOI) implementation and assist Liberian stakeholders to advance freedom of information in the country.
It can be recalled that the first meeting held on November 19, 2014 was organized by the Ministry of Information and the Carter Center Access to Information Project and gathered stakeholders to discuss accountability of Ebola resources.
