MONROVIA, October 11 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of Spain on the occasion commemorating the National Day of Spain.

In her message to His Majesty King Felipe VI, President Johnson Sirleaf extended sincere congratulations to the Government and People of Spain on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in her own name”.

President Sirleaf recalled the historic ties between both countries adding that Spain and Liberia over the years continue to forge strong partnership in various spheres which has resulted to mutually rewarding benefits to the two nations.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Sirleaf also extended her deepest appreciation for Spanish support to Liberia in the fight against the Ebola Virus. “In the wake of the outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus which continues to plaque countries in West Africa, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation for Spanish support to Liberia in the fight against the Virus”.

The Liberian leader expressed confidence that the harmonious ties which have existed between both countries for more than a century and a half, will be further strengthened as both nations endeavor to uphold their shared values of social justice, democracy, freedom for all mankind as well as the promotion of global peace and security.

She then wished for His Majesty King Felipe VI, personal well-being and for members of the Royal Family, the Government and People of Spain peace and prosperity.
