MONROVIA, October 22(LINA) - A Special Committee of the House of Representatives has called on the National Legislature to make ‘reasonable’ appropriation in the 2014/2015 Fiscal Budget for the Liberia Rubber Development Authority (LRDA).

The Committee noted that this will enable the LRDA carry out its responsibilities effectively as the price of rubber has drastically dropped on the world market, affecting the income of rubber farmers and planters.

The Committee was constituted two weeks ago to investigate a complaint filed against the Management of the Firestone Rubber Plantation Company and the Rubber Planters Association of Liberia (RPAL) by the National Rubber Brokers and Farmers Union of Liberia (NARBFUL) on alleged labor malpractices.

Its call was contained in a report submitted to Plenary on Tuesday following the end of the investigation.
