MONROVIA, October 27 (LINA) -The Commander of the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) detachment in Grand Cape Mount County says the detachment has generated about US$500,000 from alien registration.

Col. Nimely Wisner said the amount, raised from January to September this year, came mainly from payments made by aliens residing in Grand Cape Mount County for residence permits.

Col. Wisner made the disclosure in an interview with Liberia News Agency shortly after receiving a pick-up and anti-Ebola materials from the National Ebola Taskforce and the U. N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) respectively, over the weekend in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County.

He explained that with the vehicle and the anti-Ebola materials, the operation of BIN will be enhanced, enabling the Bureau to effectively patrol the border to prevent people from by-passing checkpoints and border posts.
Grand Cape Mount County straddles the border with Sierra Leone, where the Ebola virus is also claiming many lives.
Meanwhile, Wisner has assured that BIN officers will remain vigilant in playing their role in combating the Ebola disease through rigorous scrutiny at the border posts.
