MONROVIA, October 31 (LINA) -The Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) has appealed to authorities of Nimba County to reopen general markets in the county to enable marketers earn a living.
The Bahn, Tappita and Saclepea markets were ordered temporarily closed by Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele in July 2014 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Ebola virus.
In an interview with the Liberia News Agency Thursday, LMA National Vice President Gidan Sherman said while the action at the time was necessary to prevent the rapid spread of Ebola, awareness of the disease has now changed the landscape.
He said county authorities need to take into consideration the survival of the
marketers whose income comes from trading.
Sherman also pointed out the along the chain are the farmers who need to market their crop and get income to sustain their families.
