MONROVIA, November15 (LINA)-The Assistant Agriculture Minister for Regional Development, Research and Extension,  Paul Jallah, has admonished Liberian youths  to pursue studies in the field of agriculture and return to the soil.

Jallah made the appeal at the opening of a one-day Inter-Ministerial Task Force on Technical, Vocational Education and Training Consultation Seminar on the Draft Operational Plan for the Development of TVET for 2015-2020 held at the Education Ministry Friday.

He regretted that youths nowadays are more interested in non-profitable ventures than those that will help build their future.

Jallah pointed out that by venturing into agriculture, the youths would help to revive the economy of their country and create job opportunities for Liberians.

Speaking earlier, Education Minister Etmonia Tarpeh said  theTechnical Vocational Education Training (TVET) program must be used as a key to poverty reduction in Liberia.

She said it would enhance the abilities of youths to adequately respond to the job markets especially in the technical field.

She noted that policy without action would mean nothing to Liberia, saying the lack of skills has been a major problem confronting post-war Liberia.
